My first serious try in carving a portrait. Also, i worked out a not-so-stylished way to carve hair I am quite happy with. The bust is a little larger than 1/3 lifesize. For this one, i had a hard time deciding on the finish, as i like the warm color and oil finish provides, but it also makes the grain very visible. In faces this can be irritating, if the grain is stripes. So, this time i decided on a wax finish. The wood will darken to a warmer color over time, the fotos actually show too white, in reality, its a light creamy warm color.
