greenmen are fascinating, these mystical men covered with leaves appeared already in classical rome, many examples are found in churches, one particularly nice in the curch of bamberg carved into the pedestal of the bamberg rider... i have done a greenwoman in my first year of carving, but the greenman was always still tickling me... and finally i decided to carve him, in a nice board of oak... as often with greenmen, mine is about nature, he is pondering about what we do to nature,,,, as always, a complete story showing the progress of me carving the greenman is on my blog ...

oak, wood was 3cm thick, head is about lifesize. the wood is partly stained, and then obtained a thin coat of clear briwax.
