delphic sybil

i do admire very much how michelangelo painted, and for long time i wondered how one of his paintings would look like carved in wood... this inspired me to try to carve a portrait of his delphic sybil he painted on the fresko in the sistine chapel.

linden, 3/4 life size, 6.5cm=2.5'' deep, finish is a thin coat of clear matte varnish, followed from a light colored beewax glaze, followed by clear briwax
