bas relief carvings provide an interesting challenge in themself as one has to present, say a nose, in just 1 or 2mm depth, but combining this with the effort of doing a portrait, it becomes a challenge after my heart... this carving was very satisfying, the chisels were flying over the wood, and einstein appeared, there is a foto story documenting this on my blog.
