joel is a full bust, long time i did not carve portraits as full busts but high reliefs. so this experience was wonderful, as it is more difficult, since more views need become correct, but at the same time it gives more opportunity for expression... i carved joel after a clay model (seen in the last foto) which i first made to fix my idea. more on this process as well as some information of how to copy a clay model to wood in a diffferent size is here.

linden, about 1/3 life size, and finish is just a stain followed from clear wax.
